Hardware manufacturer AMD enters the blockchain gaming after gambling for crypto-coin mining equipment.
The company has announced its participation in the Blockchain Game Alliance, including Ubisoft and ConsenSys. With this move, AMD plans to provide industry partners with performans high-performance computing technologies that can potentially change the way games are created, published, purchased and played.
AMD has also partnered with the blockchain based gaming marketplace Robot Cache and Ultra. Both will use AMD's Ryzen processors and Radeon graphics cards for “best” cryptography processing performance.
Joerg Roskowetz, director of blockchain technology at AMD, said: “Blockchain technology brings wider choice, security and flexibility to both players and publishers. The new generation of block-chain gaming platforms will provide players with access to exclusive online content and provide new ways for them to really have them..
AMD generated 10 percent of its $1.65 billion revenue in the first quarter of 2018 from crypto-coin mining equipment. During the next quarter, earnings from it fell and eventually disappeared completely. In the third quarter of 2019, the company did not announce any figures for crypto mining revenues.
